- ISI (Calcutta) | READ group of LORIA has an international collaboration starting from October, 2002 [under IFCPAR (Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Research)] with the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta towards a project on Indian postal automation. India is multilingual and multi-script (there are 18 official languages and 12 different scripts) country where a postal document may be written by using one or more of these languages. Under this project, we plan to develop a combined system to sort postal letters after recognizing pincode and cityname written on the respective postal documents. At first we plan to use English and Bangla languages for the purpose. This collabotation initiates when LORIA received Dr. U. Pal of Indian Ststistical Institute to work at READ group of LORIA for a year as a Postdoctoral fellow. Prof. A. Belaid was also invited by Indian Statistical Institute for the work under this collaborative project. |
